This "classic hotel" Downtown is an "oldie but goodie" that impresses with its "stunning" "opulent lobby" and the "polished" English Grill (which "offers a great selection of bourbons", of course); gratified guests also praise personnel who "go out of their way", but doubters demur that, though "comfortable", the recently refurbished rooms seem "not as upscale as advertised."

I am impressed with how big the rooms are, especially for an older hotel.

We, and several other guests, experienced no hot water for our morning showers.

Old.

A bit better than most other older, historic grand hotels. Usual amenities to be expected in a 3+ star hotel. However, since it is an older hotel, the room doors aren't exactly soundproof. Also, strangely enough, despite the apparently newer windows, street noise was very evident. Unfortunately, no hot water in the middle of the night (no biggie - it was really hot in the morning after 7 am). Wonderful for a weekend romantic getaway when the business crowd is gone. Valet parking is normal high $, but the unlimited in/out is very nice and the car was always there within minutes of us calling. ...read more
